In general terms a club footis a deformity of the foot in which thesole is turned in or out, or the heelmay be drawn up, or the toes may bedrawn up. Of course it is possible andquite frequently is the case, that thefoot can be deformed in two or moreways at the same time. For example,it is common for the sole to be turnedin, and at the same time for the heelto be drawn up so that in walking theperson is forced to walk on the outer-side of the little toe. All grades ofdeformity are met with, and one orboth feet may be affected. The termclub foot sometimes makes us think ofthe cloven hoof of the devil, but clubfeet are not divided like a hoof, andwc must take a rational view of the de-formity.
