The potatoes were so seri-ously infected that not a single one could be found without oneor more worms and some were so badly attacked that not an inchof sound tuber was left. The caterpillars appear to select orprefer the depression around the eye of the potato to spin theircocoons. Mr. Kotinsky has photographed a few of the cater-pillars and their work; these photographs will give you a cleareridea of the destructiveness of the pest.
