Statuette of a medieval wine maker at Petit Sablon in Brussels, Belgium


A park was created at the highest point of the Sablon extending all the way to the Egmont Palace, named Petit Sablon, in which nineteenth-century sculptors etched 48 bronze statues representing all old The park was opened in 1890 and is the work of architect Henri Beyaert (1823-1894) . The park is surrounded by a beautiful, elaborate wrought iron fence. At regular intervals there are Gothic columns, each one of them with an elegant bronze statuette representing the Brussels guilds . They are almost exact replicas of the late fifteenth-century statue made by sculptor Jan Borreman.
