Bliss (Firm); Flowers; Plants; Vegetables; Gardening. ASTER. Nat. Ord. Composit/E. price Lhm.âtiynqenesia Pohjyamia Superf ita. For beauty and variety of habit, form and color, the Aster stands unrivalled, and of all flowers is best adapted to gratify the taste and win the admiration of everj- lover of floral beauty. It is not only one of the most popular, but also one of the most effective of our garden favorites, producing in profusion flowers in which richness and variety of color is combined with the most perfect and beautiful form. Some of the flowers are unusually large, others quite small; some are beautifully incurved, others reflexed; while some of the varieties are tall and others dwarf. Amongst the tall kinds ihost worthy of note, Truffaut's magnifi- cent varieties of the Peoxv-Flowered Perfection with their beautifully incurved ball- shaped blossoms, and the New Giant F^mpekor with its immense double blossoms, stand liurivalled. The Imbrique Pompone w itli its numerous miniature floweis, and the Cockade with its showy large white center and variously tinted borders, are eipially attractive, and are particularly suitalde for large flower beds or intermingling in the borders with Dahlias, Gladioli and Koses. Of dwarf varieties the principal beauties are the Chrysanthemum, its large flowers almost hiding tlie foliage, and the Bouquet with its profusion of blossoms. They are splendid either for small flower beds or edgings. All the varieties require rich, light soil, and in hot, dry weather should be mulched with well rotted manure, and frequently supplied with manure water; this labor will be amply compensated by the increased size, beauty, and duration of the flowers. Hardy annuals. For separate colors see Assortments. Cult. k. No. 158 Aster, Triiifaut's Fre
