Further the spores in E. scirpicola are less slen- der (16—20 « 11—14 ft) than in E. In these specimens, though being very young, so that the spiral lines of the spore-membrane just are going to appear, the proportion between length and breadth of the spores still is exactly as stated by Correns, the young spores mea- suring 15 ^ 9 [x.
