Formal garden of the Mateus Palace, Portugal
Palácio de Mateus, is an unusual 18th Century baroque palace located in Mateus, in the Douro Valley municipality of Vila Real in Portugal. As well as housing a large collection of paintings, furniture and books, it is graced by an unusually fine formal and landscaped garden. It was built for the Mourao family, who still live there today.
