Gen. Geo. A. Custer, ca. Feb. 14, 1864. [Custer (1839-1876) commanded the 7th Cavalry at the Battle of the Little Big Horn, where he and 260 soldiers were surrounded and killed. The event became known as 'Custer's Last Stand'].
