The Malecon 2000 is an extensive and popular development for pedestrian access along the banks of the Guayas River with boardwalks, piers, restaurants, shops and parks. The Moorish clock tower dates from 1842 and the Palacio Municipal from the 1920s. Together they represent some of the most important architecture in Guayaquil.
