EASTERN TRAINING AREA, OKINAWA, Japan – A Marine fires the MK-19 grenade launcher Nov. 30, 2016 during the annual rifle squad/crew-served weapons competition in the Eastern Training Area, Okinawa, Japan. The competition was held from Nov. 28 - Dec. 2, 2016 in order to build camaraderie and refine squad tactics between 12 different squads representing the major subordinate commands within 3rd Marine Division and guests from 2nd Marine Division. The squad competition is slowly making a return to the Marine Corps after being put on hold during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
