The best hops of Central Europe are grown around Saaz (Zatec). In addition to their varied agricultural productions, including wine, Bohemia and Silesia are rich in coals and ores. The coal mines of the Oder, the Elbe, Pilsen, Kladno, Teplitz, and Polnisch Ostrau yield about half the total quantity produced throughout the empire.
