The Waterlilies at the beautiful and tranquil Dutch Lake in Clearwater, British Columbia, Canada

Located off of Highway 5 (the Yellowhead Hwy) in scenic Clearwater, BC, the tranquil beauty of Dutch Lake Resort. Situated approximately half-way between Edmonton, Alberta and Vancouver, BC is the Dutch Lake Resort. Dutch Lake was originally named "Deutch" Lake for the two German bachelor homesteaders who resided on opposite sides of the lake. Over time, "Deutch" Lake was later changed to Dutch Lake. The lake may have been named for the 9 varieties of Dutch water lilies around the shores of the lake which were transplanted from Holland in 1946. The lake is also famous for its Painted Turtles. The Motor Vessel Yukon Queen is propelled only by the turning of the paddle wheel at the stern of this vessel. This working sternwheel vessel was constructed in 1964 and then renovated in 1985 for Expo in Vancouver, British Columbia. Today, there are few sternwheelers in existence. They are an important part of the history of the North Thompson Valley. Eagles, osprey, turkey vultures, loons, Canadian Geese and more may be seen over the lake. During the fall, tour the lake and see the vibrant colors of the season.
