Drug testing in sport. Scientist centrifuging samples sent for anti-doping testing. A centrifuge is a machine that spins its contents around a central axis at very high speeds. The force created by the spinning separates groups of particles according to their densities. The centrifuged samples will then undergo analysis for the presence of performance-enhancing drugs, such as anabolic steroids.
