Gibraltar Government Minister Steven Linares today officially handed over to the Director of the Emergency Contingency Plan unit, Leslie Edmonds the keys of the newly acquired inter-agency Command Support Unit vehicle at a the Royal Gibraltar Police Rosia Compound in Gibraltar. The vehicle, which will act as a key control centre in major incidents is the latest acquisitions as a new contingency emergency plan is introduced by the Government. The inter-agency vehicle, run primarily by the Royal Gibraltar Police, will see the mobile unit bringing ground command control between emergency services together. Fully equipped, with satellite links, thermal imaging cameras, control and radio facilities the vehicle is expected to act as the main mobile unit deployed to major incidents. The unveiling of the vehicle took place just hours before a planned live aircraft disaster exercise which will see the vehicle tested in real live conditions for the first time.
