Detail view of top of US border fence on the Mexico border, east of Nogales Arizona USA and Nogales Sonora Mexico, viewed from US side. This type of barrier is “bollard” style construction, composed of 6” x 6” heavy steel tubing anchored in concrete and extending 16 feet or more above ground level. Note specific details which make this fence hard to climb, including the flat steel plate at the top on the south facing side, and the sloped plates on top of the bollards. This type of fence is called a “pedestrian barrier”, unlike shorter barriers which only block vehicles. The gap between bollards is less than 6”.
