The annual Gala Day was held at the Laing Sports Ground on 9th June 1973. Attractions included model aircraft, the Royal British Legion band, children's races, and sports. Demonstrations of obedience and mock arrests were given by police dogs and handlers. In the evening there was dancing and bingo in the Club House, and 'beer and beat' in the marquee.
