Theplates are of too small an area, in my judgment, for such soft timber as Californiaredwood. If they had been made an inch and a half longer and an inch wider Ithink much better results would have been obtained. As soon as our extension, noted above, is opened, these plates will be subjected toheavy traffic, and in the course of the next six mouths I may be able to give youmore definite information.
