Although for years almost forgotten by the present gen-erations that now compose the congregations formerlyserved by him, their very existence at the present day, afterthe lapse of two centuries, and the fact of their still adher-ing to the Lutheran faith as based upon the unalteredAugsburg Confession, are his best monuments. They areliving memorials, far greater than either shafts of graniteor tablets of bronze made by the hands of man.
