Greece, Island of Amorgos: the Holy Monasrety of Panagia Hozoviotissa, built in a hollow of the precipitous cliffs of Mount Prophet Elijah about 300 metres above the sea. It was built in 812-13 AD to house a revered icon, rescued from the plundered Monastery of Chozeba in Palestine. Eight storeys high, it has a maximum depth of only 5 metres.
