Las Vegas, 1998: When the Stardust Resort and Casino opened on the Las Vegas Strip in 1958 it was said to be the world’s largest hotel, with six low-rise motel buildings offering 1,065 rooms. They were later replaced by hotel towers. The Stardust closed in 2006 and the towers were imploded I in 2007. Resorts World Las Vegas now sits in its place.
