HctorioH Iciit'Ofloii of Rafinesque* The name Mesodon leucodon, Raf., has found its way into the book- aa a Bynonym of Helix ihyroides. As no description of any such species wasever published by Kafinesque, we have expressed the opinion that it was ori- ginally a manuscript name sent by Kafinesque to Ferussac. (Terr. Moll. II. S., IV., 54.) Since that time we have Been a, manuscript work by Rafinesque, entitled "Conchologia Ohioensis," given by Prof. Ealdeman to the Smithsonian Institution. In this there occurs not only a description, but a figure of Mesodon leucodon. These are here copied as concho- Iogical curiosities. They have, of course, no scientific value. lauoodonthjToMe.
