Members of the Sasebo community board the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Pioneer (MCM 9), during Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Sasebo Summer Festival 2022 in Sasebo, Japan Aug. 6, 2022. The Pioneer welcomed more than 3,700 visitors during the two-day festival which celebrated the 120th anniversary of Sasebo City, 70th anniversary of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and included displays of Japan Self Defense Force equipment and capabilities.
