Boscawen-Un Stone Circle, St Buryan, Penzance, Cornwall, England, UK Looking south west at eastern arc of circle, with leaning, off-centre stone. Boscawen-Un stone circle, St Buryan, Cornwall, England, UK: an oval of 19 regularly spaced stones with an (entrance?) gap on west. Granite pillars except for one quartz at west south west which may be a backsight for May Day sunrise &/or a foresight for Candlemas (end of first week of February) sunset. Taller, off-centre granite pillar was deliberately erected leaning. Identified as the 'Beisgowan' of the Welsh Triads, one of the three great gorsaddau of Britain, possibly the judicial assembly-place of West Wales down to AD926. Said to be on the West Penwith Ley along with Chun Quoit. Some of the stones have been re-erected. Offerings are still left at the site, especially at the base of the leaning pillar which has faint carvings of a pair of axe-heads (or 'feet') & convex breasts.
