A portrait of the captain (believed to be New Zealander Horace Stanley Collier) of the Pamir sailing ship in his cabin (circa 1946). She was a four-masted barque built for the German shipping company F. Laeisz at Blohm & Voss shipyards in Hamburg A famous Flying P-Liners, she was the last commercial sailing ship to round Cape Horn, in 1949. She ended her days when she was sunk during Hurricane Carrie on 21 September 1957 off the Azores. Only 6 survived.
