Thor is on his way to the frost giant Geirrod and crossing the River Wimur, with the god Loki holding onto his belt/girdle.

In Norse mythology, Thor was the god of thunder, and thus the god of might and war. The son of Odin, he had a magical hammer named Mjollnir that returned to him, a belt of stength, and iron gloves. His chariot was pulled by two goats—Tanngrisni ("gap-tooth" ) and Tanngnost ("tooth grinder"). In this 1905 illustration, Thor is on his way to the frost giant Geirrod and crossing the River Wimur, with the god Loki holding onto his belt/girdle. He sees that the river keeps rising. Then, ahead of him he sees the daughter of Geirrod, the giantess Gialp, and it is she making the river rise. Thor throws a great stone at her and forces her to flee. he then completes the crossing of the wimur.
