Ben Lomond is the most southerly of the mountains over 3000 feet high in Scotland that are known as Munros. The full list, known as Munro's tables after Sir Hugh Munro, contains 282 mountains. This photograph shows a group of walkers en route to the summit (at top right) via the ridge to Ptarmigan a hill to the west of Ben Lomond.
