Blanes is a Spanish municipality in the region of La Selva in the province of Gerona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia. Located on the Girona coast. It is the first town on the Costa Brava, which is why it is known as the "Costa Brava Portal". In Roman times it was called Blanda or Blandae.
