German field cannon used during the First World War in the Main de Massiges in Marne region in north-eastern France. The Main de Massiges was one of the major sites of the First World War from 1914 to 1918. The field cannon (model cm Feldkanone 96 neuer Art) was used by German troops when the area was conquered by the 23rd Colonial Infantry Regiment of the French Army on 25 September 1915. The cannon and the shelter were restored during the restoration works in the area realized by the Main de Massiges Association since 2009.
