NuSTAR space telescope in orbit. Computer artwork of NASA's Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) in orbit, showing the 10-metre-long mast that deploys after launch to separate the optics modules (right) from the detectors in the focal plane (left). NuSTAR is NASA's 11th small-explorer mission (SMEX-11) and is a space-based X-ray telescope that will use a Wolter telescope to focus high energy X-rays from astrophysical sources, especially for nuclear (gamma-ray) spectroscopy. It was built by Orbital Sciences Corporation and launched on 13th June 2012.
