Haitian migrants stand in Parque Central Miguel Hidalgo. In Tapachula, Mexico, Haitian migrants, many of whom migrated from Chile and Brazil after escaping the dangers of natural disasters, political corruption, poverty and crime in their home country of Haiti, find themselves trapped in Tapachula while they wait for migration papers or approved asylum status in Mexico. Many hopes to one day migrate to the United States, but for now, they are left waiting in Tapachula with little to no opportunity for work.
