Close up of female kingfisher. Lincolnshire, UK: THESE STUNNING photographs show the moment that a beautiful kingfisher spreads its wings mid-flight. In one of the photographs, the kingfisher pulls its blue and orange wings close to its body. Another photograph shows the beautiful white feathers on the inside of its wings as it spreads them wide. Kingfishers are small, brightly coloured birds that catch their prey by swooping down on it from a perch. The photographs were captured by amateur photographer and crime scene investigator Martin Goff (47) in Lincolnshire at a local wildlife pond using an OM System OM1 and 100-400mm lens. ?Kingfishers have favourite perches they use to fish from?, Martin said. ?Normally they watch and then dive straight from their perch, but occasionally they will fly up and almost seem to hover before diving to grab a is what happened here. ?They are such colourful birds and are fairly commonly found near water in the UK, but they are most often seen as a fast blur of orange and blue as they fly past. ?It was so nice to see one close up like mediadrumimages/MartinGoff
