Marble Church, Bodelwyddan, Wales, UK, erected 1856-60 at a cost of £60,000 by Lady Willoughby de Broke in memory of her husband. Architect John Gibson used local white limestone & there are 13 different types of marble inside the church. The 202ft high W spire is known as the Pearl of the Vale (of Clwyd). White WWI headstones planted with roses to S of church (L) are mainly those of Canadian infantry, victims of the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918-19 which swept through their repatriation camp in Kinmel Park W of the church. Graves include Edward Lewis who served as Private George Brown 2140717, 1st Res. BN. Canadian Infantry, who died of bronchial pneumonia 20 October 1918.
