Due to the extremely long stub-end feeds approximately 42 miles of 400,006-circ. mil copper feederand 22 miles of No. 0000 feeder liad been put up. A proposition was secured from tlie Union Gas & Elec-tric Company in Cincinnati, covwing the furnishing of3-phase, 60-cycle current at 33,000 volts. The power com-pany built the transmission line to the substations, and itwas foimd that power could be purchased at a somewhatlower figure than it was costing to manufacture it, particu-larly in view of the extreme high cost of fuel. A contractwas therefore entered into with the Union Gas & ElectricCompany. The power contract specifies a maximum de-mand rate of $ per kilowatt per month, based on fifteen-minute readings on four consecutive days in the month,. FERNBANK AUTOMATIC SUBSTATION OF THE C.
