A number ofinteresting names, taken from these rosters, are appended am unable to find any reference to the nationality of thesesoldiers of Americas first knov/n army; but, that some, at least,of those selected were Irish, there can be no doubt. In the New England Historical and Genealogical Register for1848 is found some remarkable testimony of the sympathy ofthe people of Ireland for the sufferers in this cruel war.
