Charlotte Haywood (1897-1971), US physiologist. Haywood studied at Mount Holyoke College (graduating 1919) and also studied at Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania, obtaining her doctorate in 1927. She carried out research in physiology in the 1920s at Woods Hole. In 1927, she joined the faculty at Vassar College, and in 1930 returned to teach at Mount Holyoke.
