Bronze statue of Sir Douglas Bader


A bronze sculpture of Sir Douglas Bader. This was unveiled by his wife Joan in August 2001, to commemorate the life of the wartime pilot who fought in the Battle of Britain despite having two tin legs. The inscription reads 'Wing Commander Douglas Bader DSO & Bar DFC RAF flew his last mission from this airfield on 9th August 1941'. It stands at Goodwood airfield which was known at Westhampnet during the is where Sir Douglas Bader was based.
