Only two urns of this identicalform were found, at a depth of from 26 to28 ft., of which we can be pretty certain thatthey belong to the third or burnt city. Theclosest analogy to these vases is afforded bya lustrous-red hand-made vase found on theisland of Thera (Santorin), below the strataof pumice-stone and volcanic ashes, and pre-served in the collection of the French School
