Secession Building (1897), Joseph Maria Olbrich. This exhibition hall was an architectural manifesto for the Secession art movement repudiating the traditional fine arts establishment. Also known as the "Golden Cabbage", the white stuicco building is detailed with gold leaf, florid Jugenstil motifs, and sculptural relief. The Secession Building is a unique expression of Viennese rebellion.
