Giraffes drinking from a watering hole AFRICA AN ADORABLE baby giraffe can be seen splashing as it tries its best to drink from an African watering hole. In one hilarious shot, the baby, who is just a few months old, spreads its legs at an unlikely angle as it bends down to drink, while in another, it spurts water in all directions. This giraffe calf is just over six feet tall and weighs about 147 pounds. Within a year, the baby can expect to grow to a height of 16-18 feet and a weight of 1,500 pounds. These images were taken in October at the Amboseli National Park, Kenya, a 240 sq mile wildlife sanctuary formerly known as the Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve. They were taken by 62-year-old wildlife photographer Michelle Guillermin using a Nikon Z8 camera from a distance of 20 feet. ?We approached the watering hold when the animals were drinking. There were about six to eight of them,? she said. ?Giraffes are a fun animal to watch.
