Giinthers Modification of Pirogoffs Operation. — The incisionacross the front of the ankle is the same as in the previous opera-tion; the lower incision, which passes through the sole of the foot,instead of passing vertically downward is directed obliquely down-ward and forward; upon the inner side of the foot this incision passesjust behind the tubercle of the scaphoid, and a similar obliquity is alsoobserved upon the outer side of the foot, the incision striking justbehind the tuberosity of the base of the fifth metatarsal.
