He is ayoung merchant,and one of theyounger timber-traders on is quite astudent, and hasread and digestedmuch; is a lead-ing Democratic politician of his section, but not anoffice-seeker, being too much absorbed in business. Patton, thefather of the three Patton Brothers of the drug-house carried on by them, was for many years aprominent figure in the social, moral, and materialinterests of Catlettsburg. He died fifteen yearsago, greatly respected for his noble Christian quali-ties, leaving not only material wealth to his descend-ants, but, better still, a name above reproach.
