Topknot pigeon, Lopholaimus antarcticus (Columba dilopha, double-crested pigeon), native to Australia. Handcoloured steel engraving by William Lizars after an illustration by Edward Lear from Prideaux John Selby's volume "Pigeons" in Sir William Jardine's "Naturalist's Library: Ornithology," published by Lizars, Edinburgh, 1835. Artist Edward Lear (1812-1888), today most famous for his literary nonsense and limericks, was a skilled ornithological artist who published "Illustrations of the Family of Psittacidae or Parrots" in 1832.
