For this rea-son the New York branch broke off from thoColonization Society. Within a few years arenewed effort has been made to supply thereligious and educational wants of this peo-ple. The Baptists re-occupied the field in1868, and seem encouraged. They baptized153 the succeeding year, half of them Cou-goes.
