On the Houston Heights division athirty-five pound T rail is employed which is laid on 6x8in. stringers having lapped joints and held to gauge bytie rods placed four feet apart; the stringers rest on 2X10in. planks in place of ties, which in turn rest on a shellfoundation of three or four inches in thickness, while thetrack is ballasted with the same material. The power house and car house, which are of brick,are located on Buffalo bayou near Magnolia Street. Thebarn has a ground dimension of 250X100 ft. with a re-pair shop on one side 137X27 ft. The power stationadjoins the car house and stands immediately on the bankof the bayou, from which water is obtained for the boilersand condensing purposes. The tracks make a loopthrough the car house so that all the cars come in at oneend and pass through. There are a number of repair pitsand other conveniences for the repair ot cars and motors.
