Radiotherapy linear accelerator beam window. X-ray emitting component of a linear accelerator (LINAC), a device that emits high-energy X-ray radiation as part of radiotherapy to treat diseases such as cancer. The patient is placed on a couch and the machine is then positioned over them. Radiation is focused on the tumour site, and used to disrupt and kill the cancer cells. This is a Clinac machine from Varian medical systems. Photographed in the UK.
