Oneof the lines of the Binghamton Railroad Companycrossed it until a few weeks ago, and J. P. E. Clark,general manager, writes us to the effect that when thelines were changed from horse power to electric theattention of the railroad commissioners was called to thecondition of the bridge, with the result that certainchanges were made with a view to strengthen it. Eachyear the travel has increased and a short time ago the. FEKRV STREET ISRIDGE, BINGHAMTiiN. N. Y. attention of the municipal authorities was again calledand inspection by expert engineers ordered, all of whomagreed that it was unsafe. Prior to the inspection therailroad company had petitioned for a line throughanother street and over another bridge, but oppositionon the part of property owners was encountered. Inlieu of property consents a commission was appointedand after a thorough investigation reported in favor ofthe company. The matter is now only waiting the con-firmation of the appellate court which, being onh amatter of form, will probably be obtained. The com-mission and the public at large united in recognizing theimportance of increasing the street car facilities , sided with the company. The bridge is well shown in the accompanyingengraving.
