A very heavy duty steel piling tube piled into the ground to form the base of what will be a support column for electric cabling

A steel tube piling having been driven deep into the earth with its six mounting bolts and adjustment washers in place ready to have a vertical column bolted to it for the support of very heavy () Overhead Line Equipment adjacent to a main railway line in the embankment on one side. These piles appear about every 20 metres along the main line where new is being installed as part of the Great Western modernization and electrification program, these piles are used in place of dug concrete foundations as they tend to be more stable due to the length of the tubes with a short one being some 4 metres long and longer ones made up of two tubes bolted together.
