The Roman beggar Bajocco. The beggar dwarf Francesco Ravai, nicknamed Bajocco (after a small Roman coin worth only a few pence) must have been a sight to behold in late 18th-century Rome. Various artists immortalized his striking appearance, characterized by his thick head of hair and full beard. As a reminder Grandjean noted that Bajocco was wearing red pants when he drew him.
