Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. WWI,Sagrado del Carso : the locks of the river Isonzo. After the declaration of war, the Austrians blew up the bridge and the railway bridge. Then, they destroyed the locks that controlled the flow of the Isonzo and made the river overflow and flood the lowlands, to stop the Italian troops.
