Protest called by the Free Fox Association against animal experimentation the animal rights association Free Fox has concentrated against animal experimentation in the Plaza de Jacinto Benavente, in Madrid. Every year, more than 100 million non-human animals are tortured and killed around the world for experiments and other scientific purposes, including teaching. In the Spanish State it is estimated that about 800,000 animals are used for these purposes, according to official data. Laboratory animals are used mainly in medical and veterinary studies, in the chemical and cosmetic industry; in military research or in the pharmaceutical industry, among other purposes. These animals suffer terrible torture daily and live locked in cages in cold laboratory rooms all their lives. For example, they are forced to ingest chemicals or cosmetics, they are burned to test weapons or other products, they are vivisected (separation of parts of the body while alive), bones are broken, electrodes are applied, they are they inject viruses or have their eyes stitched up, among other heinous practices.
