Islamic ritual slaughter. Blood-soaked dead sheep hanging from a rack after being killed as part of Islamic ritual slaughters for the Eid al-Adha festival. Islamic communities kill hundreds of sheep during this period. For hygienic reasons many cities provide areas for this to take place, to avoid people killing the animals at home. The owner of the sheep keeps one-third of the meat, and gives two-thirds away to family and poor people. Photographed in Ghent, Belgium.
